Media Process Educational Films

In an unprecedented collaboration between Chicago's top documentary organizations, Media Process Educational Films (MPEF), in partnership with Kartemquin Films, Siskel/Jacobs Productions, The Kindling Group, and Free Spirit Media, produced a multimedia documentary project about the Chicago Public Schools closings that occurred in 2014. The innovative series featured 5 videos on topics such as Charter Schools, Standardized Tests, Discipline Policy and the impact of the School Closings.

Each video was shown at a public forum with experts on all sides. The videos became a catalyst for discussions on the critical issues facing our school system. After each of these public screenings the videos ran on WTTW’s Chicago Tonight program and were featured on the websites of the Chicago Sun-Times, Ebony/Jet Magazine, the Chicago History Museum, StoryCorps and the panel discussions were broadcast live on Chicago Access Network television. Funders included the MacArthur Foundation, the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation and the the Voqal Fund. For more info, visit: wikipedia.org/wiki/The_School_Project.
